SUN 10th / 10:25 AM - 1:25 PM
Poole Harbour, Poole / Bird Watching Cruise
RSPB & Brownsea Island Ferries
This three hour cruise incorporates a visit of approximately 1½ hours to Dorset Wildlife Trust's nature reserve on Brownsea Island. The 97 Hectare (240 acre) reserve occupies the northern half of the island and is leased from the National Trust who own the island and manage the southern half. Thousands of birds flock to the island's freshwater and saline lagoons during winter to feed - up to 1,400 avocets have been recorded here at once. This cruise offers you the chance to see some of the island's diverse wildlife and habitats, including one of the UK's rarest animals, the red squirrel. RSPB guides will be on hand to help with the identification of birds and answer any of your questions throughout the trip. This is a partnership project between the RSPB and Brownsea Island Ferries. Booking essential. All bookings must be made through Brownsea Island Ferries on 01929 462383. Cost: adult £14, child £7.50.
