East Dorset District Council

Parley Common covers over 150 hectares of Heathland stretching from Ferndown almost to Christchurch, and is one of the largest remaining continuous areas of lowland heath in Britain. The East Dorset Countryside Management Service are responsible for a small block of the heath in the Trickett's Cross area, accessible from the Heather lands Community Centre, whilst the majority of the site is managed by the Herpetological Conservation Trust. The meeting point is still to be confirmed. Everyone over the age of 16 welcome. Young people between the age of 8 and 15 are welcome to come along but they must be accompanied and supervised on the task by an adult. Why not spend Valentines day Hazel Coppicing!! Bugden’s Copse Local Nature Reserve in the heart of Verwood is a six hectare semi-natural Ancient Woodland, and a remnant of the ancient forest of 'Fayre Wood' from which the local town of Verwood derives its name. Because of its outstanding wildlife and conservation value, the copse and adjoining meadows are declared Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The meeting point is still to be confirmed.
